If #AntiDumpingDuty implemented properly it can make India’s solar story shine: Gyanesh Chaudhary

India’s biggest solar equipment manufacturer Vikram Solar seems to be quite unhappy with the current solar policy of the country. Recently  Gyanesh Chaudhary, MD and CEO- Vikram Solar on a professional networking site said “Domestic solar manufacturers are currently at an unfair disadvantage against subsidized solar products from various countries, primarily China, Taiwan and Malaysia. He added “If #AntiDumpingDuty is implemented properly (higher on modules on lower on cells), it can make India’s solar story shine.”

Chaudhary posted his views with a video that starts with welcome message ” dawn of new era, a change fueled by solar energy, energy for greener planet, energy for better future.” The company through the video appreciates PM Modi’s vision of achieving 100 GW solar target by 2022. However, the video notes that the current capacity is far from the national solar goal and India is heavily dependent on foreign imports.  It also states that the Indian solar players are unanimously in support of implementing anti-dumping duties with higher duties on modules and lowers on cells.

This is not the first time that Chaudhary has openly expressed his views on the current solar policy. Early this year in November Chaudhary via his twitter account said – “A great game is afoot, and we can’t win it with one hand tied behind our backs.”
