Use of LED lights is mandatory in all government and private offices: Haryana transport minister

Haryana government has made it mandatory to use LED lights in all government buildings, industries and commercial organisations said Haryana transport minister Krishan Lal Panwar speaking at a conference on energy conservation on Wednesday.

According to ET, Panwar said “To promote energy conservation, LED bulbs of nine Watt will be provided at a concessional rate of Rs 20 in the villages of Karnal, Bawal, Nangal Choudhary and Hathin, along with financial assistance of Rs 1.25 crore,” he added, “Two LED bulbs are being given to each household and around 1.15 lakh families are supposed to be covered under the programme.”

The minister also revealed that AT&C losses on power distribution across Haryana reduced to 20.29% in 2017-18 from 30.02% in 2015 -16

Speaking to the publication Pnawar said Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam  has racked up over Rs 400 crore under the Uday scheme, which involves state governments taking up a part of the debt of discoms and facilitating financial revival. He added“Under the Uday scheme, the power distribution companies obtained financial turnaround two years before time and earned a profit of Rs 412.34 crore in 2017-18.”

The state government is also going to initiate another scheme to install 50,000 solar pumps across the state by taking a loan of Rs 1,696 crore from NABARD. In the first phase of the scheme 15,000 solar pumps will be installed and 35,000 solar pumps will be installed in the second phase.
