• MG Motor India and Tata Power inaugurated the first 60kW superfast electric vehicle charging station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The facility is available to all the vehicles compatible with CCS/CHAdeMO fast-charging standards.
• Tesla is reportedly gearing up to launch the Model 3 electric car in India during 2021. According to Economics Times Fresh bookings for the Model 3 are expected to be taken from as early as January 2021 and start delivery by the end of the first quarter of 2021-2022.
• One Electric announced that deliveries of their electric motorcycle, KRIDN, have started in Hyderabad and Bengaluru through their distribution partner. The company will commence deliveries in Tamil Nadu and Kerala next month in January 2021, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi NCR thereafter.
• Mahindra Logistics is planning to deploy electric vehicles for last-mile delivery shortly, a top company official has said.
• BMW is planning to step up its production of electric vehicles and aims for 20% of its vehicles to be electric by 2023 said Chief Executive Oliver Zipse to German daily Augsburger Allgemeine.
• Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has released a draft order for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, tariffs, and other regulatory issues. As per the order, a tariff of INR 6 applies to public charging stations (PCS) under two categories: LT-8 and HT-6. The tariff also applies to battery charging stations (BCS) and battery swapping stations (BSS). During Off-peak Hours (2300 hours to 0600 hours) rebate of 15% for Public Charging Station shall be allowed.
• Hyundai is reportedly working on low-cost electric vehicles for the Indian market. The first car to be launched as a low-cost EV is likely to be a micro-SUV, which will be launched in the Indian market in 2021. As per the reports the car is codenamed as Hyundai SUV AX1.
• Toyota C+Pod all new micro electric vehicle launched in Japan. C+Pod has a range of 150 km and can be charged to its full capacity in 5 hours on a 200V/16A power supply.
• Magna International and LG Electronics announced a joint venture to make components for electric vehicles. The duo will produce electric motors, inverters, and on-board chargers, aiming to combine them into a single unit, also known as an e-axle system.
• India Energy Storage Alliance in its 2nd annual report “India Electric Vehicle Market Overview Report 2020-2027” for the India Market forecasts the EV market to grow at CAGR of 44% between 2020-2027. The report adds that it is expected to hit 6.34-million-unit annual sales by 2027.
