MG Motor India to launch 2021 MG ZS EV on February 8

MG Motor India has announced its plan to launch the 2021 MG ZS EV on February 8. The updated electric SUV for the 2021 is expected to come with some new and revised features.

TVS iQube Electric Scooter launched in Delhi at INR 1.08 Lakh

TVS Motor has finally launched the much awaited electric scooter TVS iQube Electric in the capital priced at Rs 1,08,012 (post FAME II and Delhi state subsidy).  TVS iQube Electric is equipped with 4.4 kW electric motor and has a maximum speed of 78 kilometres per hour and traverses 75 km in single full charge. It can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.2 seconds said the company in a statement.

Ford announces plans to dramatically accelerate foray into electric cars

Ford recently announced dramatic acceleration of its investment push into electric autos and signaled deepening collaborations with technology giants on the increased digitization of driving. The US auto giant, released fourth-quarter and annual results, and said it plans $22 billion in electric car investment through 2025, nearly twice the earlier plan.

Delhi Government’s fleet of cars will be all electric in 6 months

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has launched the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign and said his government will ensure that within the next six months, only electric vehicles are hired by different departments. Under the campaign, awareness will be created about the benefits of electric vehicles and how they can contribute to making Delhi clean and pollution-free, he said. The chief minister appealed to the people to join the campaign to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and contribute towards the fight against pollution in Delhi.

Delhi government invites bids to set up 100 electric vehicle charging stations

Delhi government has floated tender inviting bids to set up 100 electric vehicle charging stations across the city. The tender has been floated by the Delhi Transco Limited (DTL). The charging stations will be set up within one year, each station will have five charging points.

Mumbai railway stations now have EV charging points , thanks to Central Railway, UNEP and Tata Power

Central Railway, Mumbai, in association with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Tata Power have announced the launch of their novel green initiative for promoting e-mobility in Mumbai. As a part of this initiative, charging points for electrical vehicles will be made available at all important railway stations in the island city, the suburbs and adjoining Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Electric Vehicle Owners Prefer Dedicated Home Charging Stations says JD Power

Home charging is a significant part of the electric vehicle (EV) ownership experience, with 88% of owners who say they charge their vehicle at home “often” or “always.” Overall home charging satisfaction is highest among EV owners who install a Level 2 permanently mounted charging station, with a score of 749 (on a 1,000-point scale), according to the inaugural J.D. Power U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Home Charging Study, released recently.

GreenCell investing INR 400 crore in PMI Electro consortium to deploy 350 electric buses in Uttar Pradesh

GreenCell Mobility said it is investing Rs 400 crore in a consortium of PMI Electro, including acquisition of 49 per cent stake, for deploying 350 electric buses across Uttar Pradesh. GreenCell Mobility, an electric mobility-as-a-service (eMaaS) platform, said it has acquired stakes in two special purpose vehicle  companies incorporated by PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Private limited.

Kabira Mobility to launch KM3000 and the KM4000 electric bikes on 15 February

Goa-based electric two-wheeler start up,Kabira Mobility is gearing up to launch two new electric bikes – dubbed as  KM3000 and the KM4000, on 15 February in the country. KM3000is a fully faired model, while KM4000 is a naked electric bike.

European Union electric and plug-in hybrid car sales jump to over 1 million in 2020

Data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) showed sales of fully-electric and plug-in hybrids surged to 1.046 million vehicles in 2020 from 387,808 in 2019. This accounts for more than 10% of overall sales. The jump in sales shows electrified vehicles are becoming more mainstream products after years of being a niche market and it came at a time when overall European Union car sales plunged nearly 24% to 9.9 million because of COVID-19 lockdowns.
