Envision Solar has announced that Mountain Vista High School of Douglas County, Colorado has ordered the Company’s EV ARC solar-powered EV charging solution to offset the school’s Freight Farm energy intake and provide emissions free electric vehicle charging for the campus.
Mountain Vista High School selected the EV ARC product because it is a seamless solution for their EV charging needs while providing free, solar powered energy to their Freight Farm and because it is self-contained, does not require permits, inspections, or construction, and has the cheapest and fastest implementation on the market.
Six of the high school’s students were involved in the acquisition through a proposal to the Green Problem Based Learning contest where a district-level committee of adults awarded a pool of money to help fund the order. EV ARC products are also eligible for an NREL grant.
Envision products are currently deployed in Golden and Boulder Colorado.
“Colorado is taking ambitious steps towards the electrification of transportation and we view schools in that and the other states as a great market for our products just as universities already are,” said Desmond Wheatley, Envision Solar’s CEO. “We applaud the efforts of the students who have shown that they can make a difference through enabling the driving on sunshine experience on their campus.”
Cleantechinca recently reported that Schools, like many other workplaces where people spend several hours at a time, are becoming hubs for EV charging. Envision Solar views schools as a significant market opportunity for the Company’s products.
Invented and manufactured in California, the EV ARC fits inside a parking space and generates enough clean solar electricity to power up to 225 miles of EV driving in a day.
The system’s solar electrical generation is enhanced by EnvisionTrak which causes the array to follow the sun, generating up to 25% more electricity than a fixed array.
The energy is stored in the EV ARC product’s energy storage for charging day or night, and to provide emergency power during grid failure. Because the EV ARC product requires no trenching, foundations or installation work of any kind, it is deployed in minutes and can be moved to a new location with ease.
EV ARC products are manufactured in the company’s San Diego facility by combat veterans, individuals with disabilities, and other minority demographics and highly talented, mission-driven team members.
