Mumbai based, solar energy EPC firm, Oriano Solar has successfully completed two 20 megawatt (MW)ac photovoltaic (PV) power plants, totally 40 MWac for First Solar, Inc. in the state of Karnataka, in Gadag and Belagavi districts respectively.
OrianoSolar’s scope was turnkey EPC of the two projects, which are designed to collectively generate approximately 82.83MWh/annum of solar energy under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the state owned distribution utility companies in Karnataka.
The project is based on First Solar’sCdTe thin film PV modules, leveraging the latest 1500V inverter architecture. During the construction phase, the projects had more than 725 people working at the site.

“This is Oriano’s first project with thin film modules, and their commitment to deliver on time within budgets was exemplary,” said Sujoy Ghosh, Country Head, for First Solar in India.

Speaking on this occasion, Yeshwant Rao, Co-founder & MD, Oriano Solar said, “Both the Oriano and First Solar teams worked seamlessly in delivering this project on schedule and building a high-performance PV plant. The expected plant performance ratio is approx. 81%, thereby giving better energy yield.”
