Tata Power Skill Development Institute, a not for profit skill development organization, has been awarded with ISO 29990:2010 and ISO 9001:2015 dual certification by the Bureau Veritas, a certification body accredited by the National Accreditation Board.
The ISO 29990:2010 certification is a highly specialised standard for Learning Services Providers. Its scope of certification covers 19 processes including the areas of training in content development, delivery, impact assessments and evaluation.
ISO 9001:2015 certification is for Quality Management System and is one of the most widely used standards in the world.
The dual certification substantiates the operational excellence and standards practices pursued by Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), established in 2015 by India’s largest integrated power company The Tata power Company Ltd to enhance employability amongst youth and addressing the skill gap challenge faced by the Indian Power and allied sectors.
“The dual certification will give assurance of quality learning services to the customers and trainees, ensure streamlined training delivery across all our training centers and pave the path for continuous improvement. We were completely sold to the idea of acquiring this standard due to its unquestionable relevance to whatever we do as a training institute,” said C N Nagakumar, Chief – Tata Power Skill Development Institute.
“It is a milestone in the Institute’s evolution into becoming the Best-in-Class Integrated Technical Training Institute for contemporary and future skills in the power sector and allied areas. Quality and operational excellence is built into Tata Power’s culture and values and this certification is further proof that we live up to our values each day,” said Ashok Sethi, COO & ED, The Tata Power Co Ltd.
The Institute provides modular training and certification across a wide range of employable skills, including skills in thermal, hydel and renewable energy generation, transmission and distribution, as well as other skills found in the allied areas.
