Audi is reportedly gearing up to launch high- performance electric sports car integrated with top-notch technology in 2020.
According to Autocar , Audi Sport managing director Stephan Winkelmann at the launch event for the RS4 Avant revealed the company’s plans . The MD who is set to become the president of Bugatti in January 2018 said that Audi Sport ” will be less evolutionary and more into revolution. However, he did didn’t reveal any details of the upcoming vehicle but indicated that Audi Sport will continue to diversify its offerings.
“We are also looking into cars which are, let’s say, in a growing segment or a body segment which is growing,” he said, hinting that the company may shift their focus to developing sport utility or crossover vehicles, according to Autoevolution .

Beside the sports car division, Audi has made substantial investments in electric vehicles (EVs), unveiling plans for electric SUVs, a grand tourer, and a compact car. By 2021, the company plans to introduce hybrid technology into all of its core models, and by 2025, one-third of its offerings will be electric.

However, Audi is not completely leaving its roots yet. Winkelmann indicated that Audi Sport will continue to produce turbo engines.
“In 2018, 19, 20, we will have a lot of turbo engines with new models. We are not forgetting our icons, so we will continue to build them,” he said. “Even if we keep in mind that electrification is important for us, legislators permitting, our turbo engines will stay because we are very proud of these.”
