The installation process for solar panels on all buildings of Nashik Municipal Corporation will start in few days says a report. According to ET, tender for solar panels have been approved, the letter of award has been issued to the contractor and in a few days, the work order will be issued.
Solar panels will be installed on rooftop of 16 NMC buildings on a pilot basis by a private agency.
The solar panels are expected to generate 10 percent energy. NMC will not incur a huge expense on the project as the installation is said to be done on a private-public partnership mode.
An official from NMC speaking to the publication said “With installation of solar panels, NMC will be able to save Rs1 crore per year on power supply bills. This is a significant amount. We have approved the tender of a contractor and have also given them the letter of award. We are waiting for their reply. Once they reply, we will issue the work order.”
