Electricity department at a public hearing held by Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) said that amended solar policy will be notified by the end of November.
Consumers and solar developers at the meeting held at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao complained of government not doing enough to ensure that more solar power is generated within the state reports ET.
According to the report the department informed consumers that it has taken the lead in setting up roof top solar installations on its buildings with an installed capacity of 410KW and that the tendering process was over.
One of the solar developers told the regulatory commission that people are interested in installing solar power plants, but they are not getting the required support from the government.
The electricity department stated that the draft solar policy was kept open for comments and suggestions before it was notified in December 2017, but not after that.
The public hearing was held to approve the department’s draft business plan for a multi-year tariff control period from financial year 2019-20 to 2021-22.
