Under the Climate Resilience City Action Plan electric buses (e-buses) and e-rickshaws will soon ply on Rajkot roads. People of Rajkot will soon be able to enjoy environment friendly rides with these EVs.
Rajkot mayor Bina Acharya in a press statement said that Climate Resilience City Action Plan is a part of Capacity Building Project on Low Carbon and Climate Resilience City Development plan in India, reports TOI
She said “Under this programme, different projects worth Rs 1.8 crore are being undertaken for the city of Rajkot. These include assessing energy consumption of Rajkot, greenhouse gas emissions, vulnerability and risk assessment. There will be electrification of BRTS corridor and conversion of the BRTS and RMTS routes into high-breed routes. There will be a financial model in place to implement cycle-sharing and e-rickshaws.”
She further added “There will also be the implementation of ‘Solid Waste Management Action Plan 2030’ under which a detail study will be undertaken for the augmentation of local water resources, rain water harvesting and waste water recharge. There will also be solar power system implemented on affordable housing schemes as part of the Renewable Energy Saving Company model.”
