Indian government has extended anti-dumping duty for another five years on aluminum alloy wheels from China, Korea RP, and Thailand to safeguard the interest of domestic players.
Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) issued notice on March 29 imposing of duty in the range of USD 0.08 to USD 2.15 per kg on imports of aluminum alloy road wheels (ARWs) of diameters ranging from 12 inches to 24 inches imported from China PR, Korea RP and Thailand.
the Authority recommends imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty equal to the lesser of margin of dumping and margin of injury, so as to remove the injury to the domestic industry in case of the co-operative producers exporters from China PR and extend the earlier duty in respect of all other nonresponding entities. Accordingly, the Authority recommends imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on the import of the subject goods, originating in or exported from China PR, Korea RP and Thailand, as indicated in Col 7 of the duty table below, for a period of 5 years reads the DGTR notice.

Share of imports from China PR has come down sharply from 78.74% to 48.35% during the POI (period of investigation) as compared to the base year 2014-15. Share of total imports from subject countries have also declined from 82.06% during the base year 2014-15 to 61.65% during POI. Share of total imports from other countries have increased significantly from 17.94 to 38.35%, more than double, during the POI.
