Home minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the newly-created Union territory of Ladakh will be allocated budget for development. The development plans entail total investments of Rs 50,000 crore in power, solar energy, education and tourism sectors.
Shah at the launch of sale of winter-grade diesel in Leh said the government has made a provision to ensure that budget allocations for Ladakh will not lapse in case they are not utilized fully within the fiscal.
The minister said that this has been done looking into the Ladakh’s special development needs and to allow the local administration to make full use of funds as per their development needs.
Sale of winter-grade diesel is common in the US, Europe and Eurasia, this is the first time it has been introduced in India.
Sale will be limited to the high-altitude areas such as Leh and Kargil in Ladakh as well as Keylong and Kaza in Himachal Pradesh during winter.
