The Pilibhit agriculture department is reportedly gearing up to provide 160 subsidized solar pumps to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme.

The farmers will get the solar pumps under the PM KUSUM scheme at a subsidized rate of 40%.
Deputy director of agriculture Yashraj Singh speaking to TOI said of the 160 units, 130 surface pumps would be of 2-horsepower capacity, while 30 submersible pumps would be of 3HP.
Two companies , one based in Gujarat and another in Madhya Pradesh has received the contract to supply solar pumps.
In a bid to maintain complete transparency, an online registration system for willing farmers had been invoked.
The solar pumps would be distributed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Farmers will be paying the the price of solar pumps via a demand draft, drawn in favour of the supplier after deducting the applicable amount of subsidy.
