Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), the renewable energy division of the Adani Group, has announced the full operation of its fourth wind-solar hybrid power plant in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
The hybrid plant has a combined generation capacity of 700 MW and a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) at Rs 3.24/kwh. The plant is a combination of 600 MW solar and 510 MW wind plants, incorporating advanced renewable technologies such as bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single-axis trackers (HSAT) systems to maximize electricity generation from solar energy.
The plant has a minimum capacity utilization factor (CUF) of 50%, the highest of any renewable project in India. The hybrid plant helps to overcome the intermittency of renewable energy and provide a more reliable solution to meet the rising power demand.
With this addition, AGEL now has an operating wind-solar hybrid portfolio of 2,140 MW, making it the largest in the world. This new plant is housed under AGEL’s subsidiary, Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer Four Limited, and increases the company’s total operating renewable portfolio to 8,024 MW, the largest in India.
This comes after the commissioning of India’s first hybrid power plant of 390 MW in May 2022, the world’s largest co-located hybrid power plant of 600 MW in September 2022, and the third hybrid power plant of 450 MW in December 2022, all located in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
