210mm Modules and N-Type Technology Lead the Way, Production Capacity Set to Exceed 90% in 2023
According to a recent report by independent new energy research agency TrendForce, the production capacity for large-format wafers, cells, and modules is set to exceed 90% in 2023, with demand for these products showing strong growth.
The report indicates that the market share for large-format wafers is set to increase from 83.45% in 2022 to 95.74% in 2023, while the production capacity for large-format modules is expected to reach 767GW, with a market share of around 90%.
Among large-format products, the 210mm module is particularly popular, with its power output exceeding 700W.
The report indicates that the combination of large-format and n-type technology has become an inevitable trend, and 210mm products are expected to dominate the market going forward.
The report also highlights that bidding trends favor high-power modules, with large-format modules accounting for 89.21% of bidding projects requiring 182/210mm modules.
The top six module manufacturers, including LONGi, Trina Solar, and JinkoSolar, all shipped more than 40GW in 2022, with large-format modules accounting for more than 80% of total shipments. As of Q1 2023, cumulative shipments of 210mm modules had exceeded 120GW.
