The first-ever event of its kind to be held in the Asia Pacific region will bring together government officials, industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the uptake of offshore wind and green hydrogen.
Melbourne has won the hosting rights for the APAC Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen Summit 2023, the first-ever event of its kind to be held in the Asia Pacific region. The three-day summit and exhibition, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in August 2023, will bring together government officials, global offshore wind industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the uptake of offshore wind and green hydrogen in the region.
More than 1,000 delegates from various countries, including key global renewable energy bodies, Asia Pacific Governments, and global stakeholders such as the International Renewable Energy Agency, the World Bank Group, and the Global Offshore Wind Alliance, will attend the event.
The successful bid was led by the Melbourne Convention Bureau, with active involvement from the Victorian Government Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action and Global Victoria. The event provides an opportunity to showcase Victoria’s reputation as a leader in the energy and resources sector and the government’s commitment to transitioning to a clean energy future.
Stewart Mullin, COO of the Global Wind Energy Council, said Melbourne won hands down when they were looking for the best place to hold their inaugural conference due to Australia’s great commitment to drive the industry in the region. Mullin added that Melbourne is accessible, friendly and a great place to do business.
The event is organized by the Global Wind Energy Council, which represents more than 90% of global installed wind power capacity, including leading turbine manufacturers, developers, suppliers, and service providers. The summit will provide a unique platform to advance the uptake of offshore wind and green hydrogen in the Asia Pacific region while creating a forum for the supply chain to build a business network and showcase Victoria’s reputation as a leader in the energy and resources sector.
