Project will generate approximately 349 million units of electricity annually and help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 373,422 metric tons.
Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd (WRTL), a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, has successfully commissioned an 87.5 MW solar power project in Madhya Pradesh. The project, which was developed for UPC Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd’s subsidiary, Masaya Solar Energy Pvt Ltd, is located in the Khandwa district.
The solar power project spans across 651 acres of undulated land terrain and is expected to generate approximately 349 million units (MU) of electricity annually. This clean and renewable energy source will play a vital role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 373,422 metric tons.
Once connected to the grid, the project will cater to the electricity needs of approximately 278,000 households on an annual basis. Alok Nigam, Country Head of UPC Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, emphasized the positive impact of the project, stating that it would meet the electricity requirements of numerous homes in an environmentally friendly manner.
To accomplish the project, a total of 508,072 solar photovoltaic (SPV) modules were installed. These modules range from 335 Wp Polycrystalline to 540 Wp Monocrystalline, and they are supported by inverters with a combined capacity of 3.125 MW. Furthermore, the solar power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project has been established with the Solar Energy Corporation of India for a duration of 25 years.
Viren Doshi, Director of Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s involvement in the project. He highlighted the significance of the project as it marked their first experience with Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity. In addition to providing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) solutions, WRTL will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the solar power plant for a period of two years.
WRTL has established itself as a prominent player in the solar energy sector, particularly in the field of EPC services. With a track record of installing over 1 GW of solar projects, the company continues to contribute significantly to the development of renewable energy infrastructure in India.
