Trina Solar Becomes First Manufacturer to Produce TOPCon Modules Exceeding 700W, Plans Ongoing Power Output Upgrades
Trina Solar recently announced the commencement of mass production for its Vertex N 700W+ series modules. These modules achieve an impressive module efficiency of 22.5%, solidifying Trina Solar’s position as the first company to mass-produce TOPCon modules with power surpassing 700W.
The company plans to consistently enhance the industrialization capacity of 210mm n-type modules, with anticipated power output upgrades of 10-15W in 2024.
Leveraging the n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology introduced by Trina Solar in May, the Vertex N 700W+ series modules showcase remarkable advancements. The first n-type i-TOPCon cells were successfully manufactured in Qinghai province earlier in August, achieving an outstanding cell efficiency of 25.8%. By year-end, Trina Solar anticipates its cell capacity to reach 75GW, with 40GW of n-type cells boasting the innovative n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology.
Trina Solar’s Vertex N 700W+ modules underwent rigorous testing by RETC and demonstrated superior performance in terms of temperature coefficient and low-light environments when compared to p-type modules, as indicated by a UL Panfile test report. Simulations conducted in various cities indicate that the annual power generation of Vertex N modules could be enhanced by up to 3.96% compared to p-type modules.
End customers have also praised the Vertex N modules, leading to their deployment in significant projects. Notably, a photovoltaic power plant associated with a seawater desalination plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, has integrated the Vertex N 700W+ series modules. Additionally, a 500MW photovoltaic power station project in Xinghai county, Qinghai province, is also embracing these advanced modules.
