Renowned mountaineer champions sustainability as company’s renewables business advocate.
Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has appointed renowned mountaineer Baljeet Kaur as its sustainability champion in the company’s renewables business. This strategic move aligns with Tata Power’s commitment to supporting young talent in unconventional fields while promoting sustainable living.
Scaling Heights of Sustainability
Kaur, a 27-year-old native of Himachal Pradesh, brings an impressive track record to her new role. She is the first Indian woman to conquer Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Manaslu without supplemental oxygen, a feat that demands unwavering determination and mental resilience. As the first Indian to ascend seven peaks exceeding 8000 meters, she has etched her name in the annals of mountaineering history.
Kaur’s deep-rooted connection with nature and her understanding of the delicate balance of our ecosystem make her a powerful advocate for Tata Power’s ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement. This initiative inspires citizens to embrace a sustainable lifestyle through the adoption of clean energy solutions.
Inspiring Change Through Shared Values
Baljeet will play a pivotal role in inspiring Tata Power’s 5,000 employees across the country to forge a stronger bond with nature. She will also contribute significantly to the company’s environmental care and community development initiatives.
“I am excited to be a part of the Tata Power team and promote the cause of sustainable living,” said Kaur. “I am thrilled to have a platform like this, which is championing sustainability and supporting young talent in diverse fields across the country. With this support, I look forward to making meaningful contributions to both sustainability and the empowerment of women in mountaineering.”
A Shared Commitment to Excellence
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, expressed his enthusiasm about Kaur’s appointment. “I am delighted to welcome Baljeet to the Tata Power family. With her spirit of resilience, agility, care for the environment, and focus on safety, she truly symbolizes the ethos of Tata Power. Her onboarding is a testament to Tata Power’s dedication to championing women in sports and nurturing emerging talent in the country. With her #Powerofcourage, I’m sure she will be a role model for the youth of the nation.”
