Mamaearth Goes Plastic Neutral: Recycling 7,500 Tons with GEM Enviro

Indian personal care brand achieves sustainability milestone through innovative waste management solutions.

In a significant victory for environmental responsibility, Mamaearth, homegrown personal care brand, has achieved plastic neutrality in a partnership with waste management leader GEM Enviro Management Limited.

The joint effort has witnessed the successful recycling of over 7,500 metric tons of plastic, marking a milestone in both companies’ commitment to sustainability.

GEM Enviro’s proactive strategy played a crucial role in this achievement. It is worth noting that they collected Rigid, Flexible, and Multi-Layered Plastic (MLP) waste generated by Mamaearth’s operations. This waste was then directed to registered Plastic Waste Processing Facilities (PWPFs) for responsible recycling, diverting it from landfills and oceans.

“Our partnership with Mamaearth is a transformative step in tackling plastic pollution,” said Sachin Sharma, Founder and Director of GEM Enviro Management Limited. “Together, we are pioneering innovative solutions for a sustainable future, creating a plastic-neutral ecosystem and championing a circular economy. This collaboration reflects our unwavering dedication to a greener future, where responsible waste management is a cornerstone of our shared values.”

As India grapples with plastic pollution, the collaboration between Mamaearth and GEM Enviro offers a beacon of hope. Their joint efforts not only demonstrate the viability of plastic neutrality but also pave the way for a more sustainable future, where responsible waste management becomes the norm.
