Roorkee Water Conclave 2024, a joint initiative by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) and the National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee (NIH), commenced today, bringing together leading experts and stakeholders from across the globe to address critical water management challenges.

Held biennially in Roorkee, India, the conclave serves as a pivotal platform for global discourse on water resources, attracting diverse participants from researchers to policymakers. This year’s theme, “Responsible Water Management and Circular Economy,” emphasizes the crucial role of collaborative efforts in fostering sustainable water practices.

Esteemed Patronage and Leadership

The conclave is held under the esteemed patronage of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing water scarcity, pollution, and sustainability.

Prof. Berit Arheimer, President of the International Association for Hydrological Sciences, emphasized the critical role of collaborative platforms like the Roorkee Water Conclave in tackling global water challenges. She highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange in developing sustainable solutions.

The 2024 conclave builds upon the success of previous editions, which focused on “Hydrological Aspects of Climate Change” (2020) and “Water Security and Sustainable Development” (2022). With over 50 international experts and 12 sponsors/exhibitors participating, the event solidifies its position as a global leader in water research and innovation.
