Company Secures Major Orders for Solar Water Pumping Systems Across India
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Crompton) has secured its fourth consecutive order for solar water pumping systems under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahaabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM) scheme in Haryana.
This latest win, valued at over Rs. 9 crore, involves supplying, installing, and commissioning solar photovoltaic water pumping systems for the state.
It’s part of a larger national initiative led by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) to replace and establish new connections for 6.5 lakh pumps across India.
Crompton’s total orders from HAREDA (Haryana Agency for Renewable Energy Development) now stand at Rs. 65.6 crore.
Crompton’s success extends beyond Haryana. They’ve also secured Letters of Empanelment for a total of 3500 solar pumping systems in Maharashtra – 500 from MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) and 2000 from MEDA (Maharashtra Energy Development Agency).
Additionally, Rajasthan’s Commissionerate of Horticulture has awarded them a Letter of Empanelment for 1000 systems.
The total value of these Letters of Empanelment is approximately Rs. 85 crore, highlighting Crompton’s commitment to agricultural sustainability.
This achievement aligns with the national push towards renewable energy and provides a win-win solution for farmers.
Solar water pumps not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also significantly lower energy costs, boosting farmer profitability.
Crompton aims to deploy over 10,000 solar-powered pumps under PM-KUSUM in the next few years, leveraging its extensive service network, strong channel partners, and advanced R&D facilities.
“We are thrilled to secure these orders and contribute to sustainable solutions for the agricultural sector,” said Rajat Chopra, VP and Business Head, Pumps at Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. “Our success strengthens our position as a leader in providing advanced and sustainable solutions. We understand the crucial role pumps play and are proud to empower farmers with reliable solar-powered irrigation.”
Crompton actively participated in tenders across four states – Haryana, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
With the groundwork laid by SECI and MNRE, the execution phase now transitions to respective state nodal agencies. Crompton is prepared to make a significant impact in all four states.
This significant move by Crompton Greaves paves the way for a greener future for Indian agriculture, empowering farmers and promoting sustainable practices.
