Global leader to expand hybrid solar projects in region amid growing energy demand and land scarcity.
Trinasolar is set to replicate the success of Malaysia’s largest hybrid solar project across Southeast Asia. The region’s burgeoning economies and rising energy demands, coupled with limited land resources, have created a ripe environment for floating solar solutions.
A prime example is the 100MWac hybrid solar farm in Merchang, Terengganu, developed by Cypark Resources Berhad. This innovative project, combining 35MW of floating solar panels and 65MW of ground-mounted panels, is expected to offset over 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Trinasolar’s Vertex 590-595W bifacial modules were instrumental in the project’s success. Their high efficiency, durability, and bifacial design, capable of capturing sunlight from both sides, contributed significantly to the project’s output.
Elva Wang, Head of Southeast Asia at Trinasolar, expressed optimism about the region’s potential for large-scale hybrid solar projects. “This project demonstrates the viability and benefits of combining floating and ground-mounted solar installations,” she said. “We are committed to supporting Southeast Asia’s renewable energy goals and look forward to more such collaborations.”
The successful implementation of this project has positioned Trinasolar as a key player in the region’s growing solar market.
