IIT Roorkee and OIIPCRA Partner for Climate-Resilient Agriculture in Odisha

Training Program Focuses on Advanced Water Management Techniques

A recent training program at IIT Roorkee has concluded with a focus on advanced water management techniques and technologies. The initiative, in collaboration with the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project and Climate Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA), aims to bolster Odisha’s agricultural sector’s resilience to climate change.

Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Shri Rashmi Ranjan Nayak, Additional Secretary to the Government of Odisha and Project Director of OIIPCRA, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in enhancing the capabilities of field engineers and officers. The course featured lectures from experts across various departments at IIT Roorkee, including Civil Engineering, Humanities, Management, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, as well as external institutions.

The training program covered a wide range of topics related to sustainable water management, irrigation efficiency, and climate resilience. By equipping engineers with advanced knowledge and skills, the initiative seeks to contribute to the realization of a developed India and address the pressing challenges of climate change.
