GWEC Appoints Rebecca Williams as Deputy CEO

Industry Veteran to Drive Growth and Support Energy Transition

Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has announced the appointment of Rebecca Williams as its new Deputy CEO. Williams has been instrumental in shaping GWEC’s offshore wind initiatives and fostering collaboration among industry stakeholders.

In her new role, Williams will focus on accelerating the growth of the wind energy industry and addressing the challenges associated with the energy transition. She will work closely with GWEC’s CEO, Ben Backwell, to support the industry’s ambitious targets and ensure that wind energy plays a pivotal role in decarbonization efforts.

GWEC has also made other key appointments to strengthen its team. Stewart Mullin has been promoted to Chief Industry Officer, and the global policy team has been expanded with the addition of specialists in grids, permitting, trade, and supply chains. These appointments reflect GWEC’s commitment to providing comprehensive support to its members and driving global wind energy development.
