India’s leading Validation & Verification Body achieves a historic milestone, reinforcing the nation’s leadership in global carbon markets and climate governance
Carbon Check (India) Pvt Ltd, the country’s leading Validation & Verification Body (VVB), has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Designated Operational Entity (DOE) worldwide to receive accreditation under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism. This prestigious recognition by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) positions Carbon Check at the forefront of global carbon markets, enabling it to validate and verify emission reduction projects under this key framework.
Pioneering Carbon Market Integrity
The Article 6.4 mechanism, established under the Paris Agreement, facilitates the generation and trading of internationally recognized carbon credits from verified emission reduction projects. By securing this accreditation, Carbon Check reinforces its leadership in ensuring transparency, integrity, and credibility in climate finance and decarbonization efforts worldwide.
Amit Anand, CEO of Carbon Check, emphasized the significance of this achievement:
“We are proud to be the first DOE to secure this accreditation. This is a momentous achievement not just for Carbon Check, but also for India’s leadership in global climate action. It reaffirms our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in carbon credit validation and verification.”
Strengthening India’s Climate Leadership
India has been a strong advocate for fair and effective carbon markets, and Carbon Check’s recognition further solidifies the nation’s role in climate governance. With this accreditation, the company will help project developers, businesses, and governments meet their emission reduction targets while supporting India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
Amit Anand added:
“This milestone highlights India’s expertise in climate governance and market-based mechanisms. We are committed to supporting stakeholders across sectors in achieving their sustainability goals through robust verification and certification services.”
Accelerating Global Decarbonization Efforts
With only a handful of organizations globally qualifying for this accreditation, Carbon Check’s leadership in carbon market mechanisms will be instrumental in advancing credible climate finance and ensuring that emission reduction initiatives meet the highest standards. This achievement not only strengthens India’s position in global sustainability efforts but also paves the way for increased international collaboration in mitigating climate change.
