Envision Energy India Secures RLMM Approval for 5MW Wind Turbine, Marks Milestone in India’s Clean Energy Drive

New EN-182/5.0MW platform promises 40% higher energy output, 2GW order book, and increased localization

Envision Energy India has received RLMM (Revised List of Models and Manufacturers) approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for its latest wind turbine model — EN-182/5.0 50 Hz TC — on May 28, 2025. This regulatory greenlight allows the company to officially market and install the model in the Indian wind energy sector.

The new 5MW onshore turbine features a rotor diameter of 181 meters, hub height of 105.56 meters, and 89-meter blades mounted on a tubular steel tower. Certified under IEC61400-22:2010 by DNV, the Type Certificate is valid until February 16, 2026, affirming the platform’s compliance with international standards.

Envision Energy has already secured a robust 2GW order book from leading Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for the EN-182/5MW platform, with deliveries scheduled to begin in Q3 of 2025. The company’s blade manufacturing unit in Tiruchirappalli and its nacelle and hub facility in Pune are ramping up production to meet delivery timelines.

Compared to Envision’s current EN-156/3.3MW turbine, the EN-182/5.0MW offers over 40% higher Annual Energy Production (AEP), thanks to a larger swept area and improved operational temperature threshold of up to 50°C, making it ideal for India’s diverse climatic conditions. The new platform also includes enhanced safety features such as advanced smoke and fire detection systems.

Envision is also pushing forward with its localization strategy, aiming to boost local content from 60% in its 3.3MW platform to 80% in the 5MW version, strengthening supply chain resilience and supporting the Indian government’s Make in India initiative.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. RPV Prasad, Managing Director of Envision Energy India, said, “The introduction of our 5MW platform and the recent RLMM approval reaffirm Envision’s commitment to innovation, quality, and delivering customized solutions for Indian wind conditions. As high-wind zones are saturated, this platform is designed for low-wind areas, maximizing energy yield while remaining cost-effective.”

With this development, Envision Energy continues to reinforce its position as a leading player in India’s renewable energy landscape, delivering cutting-edge wind solutions aligned with the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
