Zomato and Uber Partner with MoRTH to Drive Nationwide Road Safety Awareness Under Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan

In a significant move towards reducing road accidents and promoting safe driving practices, Zomato and Uber have partnered with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to support the nationwide campaign – Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan.

Zomato, India’s leading food delivery platform, and Uber, the country’s most popular ride-hailing app, have joined forces with MoRTH to amplify road safety awareness across millions of daily trips and deliveries.

The partnership was officially announced in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, along with writer and poet Shri Prasoon Joshi, who conceptualized the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan.

Senior leaders from Zomato and Uber, including Aditya Mangla, CEO of Zomato, and Sooraj Nair, Head of Safety Operations at Uber India & South Asia, also attended the launch.

The collaboration focuses on spreading road safety messages to both drivers and consumers, reinforcing the idea that road safety is a shared responsibility.

Zomato will deliver safety messages through its delivery partner app and customer-facing platforms, while Uber is investing in driver education and rider awareness initiatives. Both companies are also extending the campaign across social media and digital channels to maximize outreach.

Speaking at the event, Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized, “Road safety is among our nation’s most critical priorities. This initiative is aimed at saving lives by fostering safer driving habits across the country. The support of companies like Zomato and Uber helps extend this message to millions of Indians in their daily journeys.”

Zomato has strengthened its delivery partner safety framework with mandatory safety briefings, daily pledges, insurance coverage, real-time weather alerts, and a 24×7 SOS feature. Partners who follow road discipline and act as first responders during emergencies are also recognized for their contributions.

Uber is enhancing its platform with initiatives like AI-driven helmet checks, speeding alerts, rear seatbelt reminders, RideCheck technology for irregular trips, and a 24×7 Safety Line. Drivers and riders are covered with comprehensive insurance, while accident protection options are also available for customers.

Aditya Mangla of Zomato stressed that “safety must always come before speed,” while Uber’s Sooraj Nair highlighted that safety remains a “core value” of the company, with continuous investment in training, technology, and policies.

The partnership builds on the third edition of Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan and supports India’s commitment to halving road fatalities by 2030. By leveraging their vast networks, Zomato and Uber aim to embed responsible road behavior into everyday journeys, helping create safer roads across the country.
