New plants mark a major boost to India’s domestic renewable energy manufacturing and support the 500 GW non-fossil capacity target by 2030
In a significant step for India’s clean energy transition, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Thursday inaugurated Inox Solar’s solar module manufacturing facility and Inox Wind’s nacelle and hub manufacturing unit near Ahmedabad. The new facilities reinforce India’s push for domestic renewable energy manufacturing in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The projects have been developed by the INOXGFL Group, which operates across chemicals and renewable energy through a fully integrated business model. With interests spanning wind and solar manufacturing, EPC services, operations and maintenance, advanced battery materials and independent power production, the group positions itself as one of India’s most comprehensive renewable energy players.
Inox Solar Limited has commissioned the first phase of its 3 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Bavla in Ahmedabad district. The fully automated plant is equipped to manufacture next-generation N-type TOPCon bifacial solar modules using M10R and G12R cells. The technology is globally recognised for higher efficiency, lower degradation and improved long-term reliability, enabling higher energy output through dual-sided power generation.
Alongside this, the Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated Inox Wind’s nacelle and hub manufacturing facility at Kalyangarh near Ahmedabad, with an annual capacity of 1.2 GW. Built to global manufacturing standards and approved by the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), the facility will produce nacelles and hubs for Inox Wind’s 3 MW class turbines and its upcoming 4X MW platform.
The strategically located unit is expected to improve logistics for wind power projects across western and southern India, reducing transportation time and enhancing execution efficiency. Nacelles and hubs together form the core of a wind turbine, housing key power-generating components such as gearboxes, generators and control systems.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said Gujarat continues to lead India’s renewable energy transition through strong policy support and industrial development. He noted that the new facilities would strengthen India’s clean energy manufacturing base, generate employment and contribute to national energy security. According to the state government, the two plants are expected to create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting local communities.
Devansh Jain, Executive Director of the INOXGFL Group, said the new nacelle and hub facility would expand Inox Wind’s technological capabilities to include the 4X MW turbine platform, while continuing production of 3 MW turbines. He added that this expansion would help the company serve new customers across western and southern India.
Jain also outlined the group’s ambitious solar manufacturing plans, targeting a cumulative capacity of 11 GW in solar modules and 8 GW in solar cells by FY27 across India and overseas markets. The solar business alone is projected to generate annual revenues exceeding ₹20,000 crore, with consolidated revenues of Inox Clean expected to scale to around ₹30,000 crore by FY28.
With these inaugurations, Gujarat further cements its position as a key hub for renewable energy manufacturing, while INOXGFL strengthens its role in supporting India’s journey towards energy self-reliance and a low-carbon future.
