New collaboration to provide Zepto’s delivery partners access to 1,000+ battery swapping stations, enabling faster, greener, and more efficient deliveries across 30+ cities.
Battery Smart, India’s leading battery swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers, today announced a strategic partnership with Zepto, the nation’s fastest-growing e-grocery and quick commerce service. This collaboration will provide Zepto’s electric vehicle (EV) delivery partners with access to Battery Smart’s expansive network of over 1,000 battery swapping stations, facilitating two-minute battery swaps across more than 30 cities. This initiative will also enable Zepto to deploy 10,000 new electric vehicles to its fleet in the fiscal year 2024-25.
The partnership underscores a broader trend in India’s last-mile delivery sector, where companies are increasingly turning to electric mobility to reap economic and environmental benefits. Currently, EVs account for 20% of the last-mile delivery market in India, aligning with the government’s objective of achieving 30% electrification of the country’s vehicle fleet by 2030.

The alliance between Battery Smart and Zepto aims to facilitate a seamless transition to electric vehicles for both existing and new delivery partners. By utilizing Battery Smart’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, delivery partners can circumvent the high initial costs of purchasing an EV with a battery, making electric mobility more affordable and accessible.

Battery Smart’s nationwide network spans Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, including regions such as Haryana, NCR (National Capital Region), Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and most recently, Maharashtra. By leveraging Battery Smart’s battery swapping solution, Zepto’s delivery partners will experience zero charging downtimes, ensuring timely deliveries and uninterrupted revenue streams.
