Ultimate Sun Systems commissions 500kW expansion to Ambala rooftop solar plant

Ultimate Sun Systems, an MNRE channel partner company installed and commissioned a 500kW expansion to the existing 1mW rooftop solar plant at the Maharishi Markandeshwar Engineering College in Mullana, Ambala.

The expansion is a grid-tiled rooftop solar PV system, generating 750,000 kWh of electricity every year. The project has been sanctioned and approved by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which has provided 30 percent subsidy to the project.

The additional 1564 solar panels and the 10 inverters installed at MM College of Engineering, Mullana, will lead to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions, which would be the equivalent of planting over 22,000 teak trees, while substantially reducing the cost of energy,” said B.S. Yadav, Managing Director, Ultimate Sun Systems.

Rooftop solar has the potential of generating 124,000 MW, but this potential is being wasted due to the slow adoption of the technology in major cities. The company will look to further expand to other Asian and African markets subsequently.
