All you need to know about Gujarat’s new land policy for wind and hybrid parks

Gujarat government recently released new land policy for renewable energy projects in the state. Under the new policy land has been earmarked for wind and wind-solar hybrid parks. Gujarat’s new land policy is seen as welcome move by wind developers who want to set up their projects in Gujarat.

Here we bring you top few things that you should know about the new land policy :-

Wind and wind-solar hybrid parks will be developed on the same lines as solar parks

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)and other central government entities have to consult with Gujarat state departments before issuing tenders for wind or hybrid project capacities.

A total area which can accommodate 30GW of renewable energy will be sanctioned for these parks.

Each park will be large enough to install a minimum of 1,000 MW.

Out of the 30GW, central government agencies can tender 20 GW only.

For allocation of space to the developer, high-powered committee (HPC) will consider its financial strength, its turnover in the renewable sector, net worth, production capacity, technical capability, experience, manufacturing base in Gujarat, investment in Gujarat [and] experience in the energy sector other than the renewable sector.
