By now we all know that Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its first electric vehicle Wagon R EV in India soon, but now a report pops up online stating that the all new EV will cost under Rs. 7 Lakh. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV will make its debut in the Indian market after having undergone comprehensive testing.
According to Auocar Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV will most likely be launched at under the Rs 7 lakh price point. This price would include the subsidies that have rolled-out to all electric and hybrid vehicles under the FAME scheme.
The publication citing sources reports that the on-road price of Wagon R EV based on the current subsidy structure should be around the Rs 7.5 lakh.
Under the current structure, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV could get a subsidy of about Rs 1.24–1.38 lakh, however, it may change if Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles scheme -2 (FAME 2) is implemented , which is expected to be introduced by the government soon.
Initially the Wagaon R EV was expected to carry price tag of Rs. 10 lakh, but with the 25% reduction in the cost and higher overall range of over 200 KM on a single charge can actually propel switching from fossil fuel powered cars to EVs.
As of now there is no info if the car will come with fast charging feature, which could charge the battery to 80 percent in less than an hour.
The new EV from the house of Maruti Suzuki Wagon will come with touchscreen infotainment with the updated user interface and smartphone connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and is said to be spacious.
Stay tuned to till more info pops up online.
