Moving inches closer to greener tomorrow, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) vice chancellor (VC) professor Tariq Mansoor on Monday inaugurated new on-grid rooftop solar projects. The solar panels has been installed on the rooftops of Senior Secondary School-Girls, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Sarojni Naidi Hall, S N Hall, Women’s Polytechnic, Bibi Fatima Hall, Department of Computer Engineering, New Hall for Girls, Trauma Centre and Nadeem Tarin Hall reports ET.
Dr Mohammad Rihan (member in-charge, Electricity Department and NISE-MNRE Empanelled Nodal Officer, Grid Connected Solar PV) speaking to the publication said that with the new installations, the total capacity of solar plants in the campus had reached 6.5 Mega Watt Peak.
For last two year around 4.8 Mega Watt Peak capacity plants have been operational in the campus. AMU is also equipped with a 3.3 MW ground mounted solar plant.
Among other academic institutions AMU enjoys having the largest separate rooftop and ground mounted solar plant installations.
