Bhopal set to go green with 100 electric buses in next six month

Bhopal is all set to go green as the the public transport system has decided to operate 100 electric buses on city roads in the next six months.

Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner B Vijay Datta speaking to ET said that each of the 100 buses will have a capacity of about 38 seats and will ply more than 200 km daily.

The average speed for electric bus operation would be around 35 km/hr depending on the condition of the route.

Over 100 smart poles installed across the city can also be utilised by electric vehicles as fast charging points. There would be no additional bus fare for travelling on electric vehicles.

The buses would be fully air-conditioned.

According to the publication Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) will appoint bus operator for procurement, operation and maintenance of air-conditioned electric buses and allied electrical and civil infrastructure on gross cost contract basis.
