JA Solar Supplying PV modules for Qatar Solar Project

JA Solar, a Beijing-based solar module manufacturer, has agreed to supply photovoltaic modules for the largest solar project in Qatar to Samsung C&T, a South Korean construction and engineering firm. The project, located in Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan Industrial City, is expected to be operational in 2024 and will use over 1.6 million of JA Solar’s DeepBlue 3.0 modules. Upon completion, the solar project will aid in the transformation of local energy infrastructure and promote sustainable economic, social, and environmental growth in Qatar.
JA Solar’s DeepBlue 3.0 modules have been awarded the PV industry’s first KS certificate for 182 modules. The 800 MW Al Kharsaah solar power project, located 80 km west of Doha, was approved for full capacity grid connectivity in November to promote renewable energy deployment. The project is expected to provide 10% of Qatar’s peak power consumption and offset 26 million tons of carbon emissions over its lifetime. Al Kharsaah is the world’s largest solar project using a tracking system and bifacial modules, and the third-largest single-location solar power project globally
