India to debut first locally made hydrogen train by 2023
India’s Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced on Wednesday that the country will have its first domestically designed and manufactured hydrogen train, named Vande Metro, in operation by December 2023. The train will run on historic narrow-gauge routes including the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and the Kalka-Shimla railway, among others, promoting more environmentally friendly travel.
