India on the verge of a solar energy revolution:Sterling and Wilson CEO

Amit Jain, CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group, stated in a recent keynote address that India is on the verge of a solar energy revolution and will continue to lead the way in renewable energy capacity additions. Jain emphasized the importance of transitioning to renewable energy due to geopolitical events and rising energy prices, and believes investment in solar energy will make India energy independent by 2047. He also praised India for pioneering a new model of economic development that avoids a carbon-intensive approach. The CEO noted that renewable energy not only advances economic development and combats climate change, but also improves energy security and access. The Indian government’s commitment to a green energy transition was highlighted by Prime Minister Modi’s COP26 address and the finance minister’s recent Budget speech, which named it as a top priority. Jain said the energy transition will be key to achieving the government’s carbon reduction and net-zero targets.
