SJVN’s 700 MW Solar Power Plant coming up in Uttar Pradesh

SJVN has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority to establish a 700 MW solar power plant in Kanpur. With an investment of $423.4 million, the company is searching for an area of around 3,000 acres in the vicinity of Ghatampur for the construction of the project.

The establishment of the 700 MW solar plant is expected to create job opportunities for approximately 300 people, while the clean energy generated will be made available to industries at competitive rates. In addition to the 700 MW solar power project in Kanpur, SJVN is also building two 75 MW solar plants in Jalaun district and a 50 MW solar power plant in Akbarpur, Kanpur Dehat. The company plans to sell electricity directly to industries and establishments such as the Kanpur Metro, besides selling it in the open market
