To assist in achieving a carbon-neutral future for the area, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has announced its plans to implement energy saving measures in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The company will swap out 40,000 60W incandescent lights with 10W LED bulbs in partnership with the Power Development Department of the District of Leh-Ladakh. This move is anticipated to save about 8.76 million units of power yearly and save CO2 emissions by 7446 tonnes.
The programme is anticipated to contribute to annual financial savings of about 3 crores. Senior dignitaries from EESL attended the launch together with the honourable Lt Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) B D Mishra, and the honourable Member of Parliament for the UT of Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
Mr Vishal Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of EESL, emphasized the importance of transitioning towards sustainable and energy-efficient sources of energy to mitigate the irreversible risks posed by climate change.
