Apple’s suppliers support 13 gigawatts of active renewable energy projects, up from 10 gigawatts last year, with a pledge to support a total of 20 gigawatts.
Apple Inc announced on Wednesday that an increasing number of its supply chain partners are committing to using renewable energy for producing Apple products, including iPhones and Macs.
According to the company, its suppliers are supporting 13 gigawatts of active renewable energy projects, which is up from 10 gigawatts in the previous year.
Furthermore, the suppliers have pledged to support a total of 20 gigawatts of projects, which is up from 16 gigawatts in the previous year. While Apple has been carbon-neutral in its operations since 2020, it aims to extend that promise to its entire global supply chain by 2030.
Notably, 250 of Apple’s suppliers have pledged to use renewable energy for Apple production, representing about 85% of the company’s direct manufacturing spending.
In China, 70 suppliers have made clean energy pledges for Apple production, up from 55 in the previous year.
