Battery Smart’s Battery-as-a-Service Model Enables Rapid Expansion Across 17 Cities and Sets Sights on 25 More by June 2023.
Battery Smart has achieved a significant milestone by completing 10 million battery swaps on its network, the highest in the country. The accomplishment marks a significant step forward in the widespread acceptance of battery swapping as a viable clean mobility solution, particularly for the growing number of electric rickshaws and two-wheelers in India, said the company in a statement.
Battery Smart ‘s network has expanded to 17 cities, including Hyderabad, Govardhan, Vrindavan, and Mathura. With 500+ Swap Stations and 50,000 batteries currently in circulation, Battery Smart aims to establish its presence in 25 cities by June 2023, with a particular focus on tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
According to Siddharth Sikka, Co-Founder of Battery Smart, the company’s unique battery-as-a-service model has allowed it to partner with Indian SMBs and leverage their existing infrastructure to set up Swap Stations rapidly. The asset-light approach has enabled the company to expand its operations while also improving the livelihoods of local business owners. The company’s dense swapping network is the most extensive in the country, and it aims to continue its growth trajectory by focusing on tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder of Battery Smart, emphasized the importance of adhering to the latest AIS norms mandated by the Government to build customer confidence and ensure safety in the battery swapping process. The company is playing a critical role in educating partners, drivers, and consumers on EV safety measures, battery management, and handling, and ensuring the latest safety norms are followed.
Battery Smart currently has 18,500 electric two-and-three wheelers on its network. As the company continues to grow, it is clear that Battery Smart will remain a vital player in the Indian EV market, driving the adoption of clean mobility solutions across the country.
