Japanese Automaker Sets its Sights on the Indian Electric Scooter Market with a Stylish and Powerful New Offering

In a bid to tap into the growing market of electric scooters in India, Yamaha is all set to introduce its latest offering, the Yamaha Neo’s.

This move comes in the wake of several other automobile giants venturing into the electric scooter segment in India, including Ola Electric, Bounce Infinity, TVS, Okinawa, Honda, and Gogoro.

Yamaha Neo’s is expected to surpass the features and qualities of its competitors in the Indian market.

One of the standout features of the Yamaha Neo’s is its battery power, which has been proven to be one of the best among available electric scooters. Equipped with an integrated power unit, the battery setup delivers maximum power and offers a range of 70 km on a single charge, as per the Japanese terrain.

However, the range is expected to increase to approximately 100-115 km when the scooter is manufactured in India. Moreover, the standard charging time is estimated to be around 8 hours, with plans to install a DC Fast Charger that can charge the battery in just 1 hour. This demonstrates the exceptional battery power of the Yamaha Neo’s.

The electric motor of the Yamaha Neo’s boasts remarkable power, providing a performance of 2.5 kW through its motor. The basic model of the scooter delivers a torque of 136 Nm, while the Eco mode variant offers a power rating of 1.58 kW. With such impressive performance figures, the Yamaha Neo’s promises a thrilling ride.

As for pricing, the Yamaha Neo’s is initially priced at approximately 2,50,000 Japanese currency due to its Japanese origin. However, when it hits the Indian market, the expected price range is around Rs. 1-1.5 lakh. Additionally, prospective buyers can benefit from state government subsidies and FAME II subsidies, further reducing the cost of electric scooters in India.

Yamaha plans to launch the Yamaha Neo’s globally, making it available in multiple countries. The global debut is expected by the end of 2023, while the Indian launch is speculated to take place around 2024. Currently, the electric scooter has been released only in Europe, and it is anticipated that the specifications may vary when it arrives in India next year.
