CEF Group’s Revolutionary Project Converts 70,000 Tons of Dal Lake Waste into Organic Manure, Uplifting Green Initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir

Leading clean energy provider tackles Dal Lake waste problem, producing over 20,000 tons of organic manure annually and boosting local economy

CEF Group, one of the leading clean energy provider, is spearheading the green energy revolution with its latest project aimed at converting 70,000 tons of lake waste from Dal Lake into organic manure and allied products. The ambitious initiative, set to commence in August 2023 at the waste processing plant of CEF Group in Srinagar, is expected to produce over 20,000 tons of organic manure annually.

Dal Lake, a picturesque tourist destination in Jammu & Kashmir, has long been plagued by the accumulation of lake waste, including weeds and lilies, which hinder boat movements and pose environmental challenges. Recognizing the need for waste management and organic solutions, Mr. Maninder Singh Nayyar, Founder & CEO of CEF Group, expressed the company’s commitment to addressing this problem at its source.

“Every year, thousands of tons of waste are generated from Dal Lake, causing difficulties for the local community and polluting the environment. We possess the technology, expertise, and experience to convert this waste into 24,000 tons of organic manure annually,” stated Mr. Nayyar. “This project will not only promote organic farming but also provide affordable organic manure to the farmers in the region, reducing their dependence on distant suppliers. Additionally, the waste processing plant will create employment opportunities for the local population, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the area.”

The conversion of lake waste into organic manure will have numerous benefits for the region. It will mitigate the environmental impact of waste accumulation, reduce carbon footprints, and improve the quality of life for local communities. Furthermore, the production of organic manure within the state will alleviate the financial burden on farmers who currently incur high transportation costs to source it from other states.

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat (IRS), Vice Chairman of Dal Lake Authority, expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts of CEF Group and NAFED in providing sustainable solutions. “Lake waste has long been a persistent problem, and we are pleased that CEF Group and NAFED are offering viable solutions. The production of organic manure within the state will not only benefit local farmers and communities economically but also address climate change concerns.”

Kamlendra Srivastava, Executive Director of NAFED, emphasized the importance of such collaborations and innovative solutions in achieving climate change goals and promoting green growth nationwide. He expressed hope that the waste processing plant in Dal Lake would inspire other states to adopt similar partnerships and environmentally sustainable waste management solutions.
