Non-profit organization’s plantation drive highlights the synergy between education and a greener future.

Educate Girls, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting girls’ education in rural India, celebrated International Youth Day on August 12, 2023, with a special plantation drive. Their devoted community volunteers, Team Balika, planted over 6,000 tree saplings across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, aligning with the theme of “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.” This initiative aimed to emphasize the link between girls’ education and sustainability, fostering environmental awareness and encouraging eco-friendly practices within communities. The event showcased how educated girls can play a pivotal role in addressing climate change and promoting innovation. Founded in 2007 by Safeena Husain, Educate Girls collaborates with the government to bridge the gender gap in rural education across multiple states.
