Allcargo Group Joins Forces for Coastal Cleanup on International Coastal Cleanup Day

Over 1,000 Volunteers Collaborate to Promote Maritime Health and Environmental Sustainability

Allcargo Group, Indian global logistics conglomerate, made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability on the occasion of International Coastal Cleanup Day.

In collaboration with its NGO partner, Swachha Vasundhara Foundation, supported by the Maharashtra Forest Department, the group organized a massive cleanup effort. Over 1,000 volunteers, including students from 18 colleges, various NGOs, Navy personnel, and NCC Cadets, joined forces to make a positive impact.

The primary focus of this initiative was the cleaning of Mangroves and the beach at Carter Road, along with the restoration of a crucial 2.5-acre area that hosts vital mangroves.

Dr. Nilratan Shende, Head of CSR at Allcargo Group, emphasized the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability through collaborations like this and initiatives such as Allcargo Greens and Maitree, which focus on waste reduction, renewable energy adoption, and responsible environmental practices.

Allcargo Group has set ambitious goals, including achieving ongoing carbon neutrality by 2040, as part of its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The group actively supports United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and Indian initiatives like Swachch Bharat, Digital India, and Skill India, with a strong commitment to community development across various sectors, including Education, Environment, Health, Women Empowerment, Disaster Relief, and Sports.

Adarsh Reddy, Joint Director of Mangrove Foundation & Divisional Forest Officer of Mangrove Cell Mumbai, praised the enthusiastic response from the community and emphasized the importance of collective efforts for long-term sustainability in environmental initiatives.

He commended the efforts of Swachha Vasundhara Abhiyaan and Allcargo Group in fostering a people-centric movement for environmental cleanup.

Promoting maritime health and environmental sustainability aligns with the Avashya Foundation’s diverse initiatives, as the CSR arm of Allcargo Group.

The Maitree initiative, aimed at sustainable livelihoods for farmers and environmental preservation, stands as a testament to the group’s commitment. Through Maitree, Allcargo Group has planted an impressive 10 lakh trees, positively impacting the lives of over 20,000 tribal farmers, promoting economic empowerment and self-reliance.
