In a Milestone Move, Shah Rukh Khan Receives First-Ever Electric Car, Marking Hyundai’s Pioneering Role in EV Adoption
In a significant stride towards promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in the country, Hyundai marked a milestone by handing over the keys to the 1,100th unit of its cutting-edge Ioniq 5 to Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan. The move comes as a commemoration of Khan’s 25-year association with the automotive brand, solidifying one of the longest-standing partnerships in the industry.
The Ioniq 5, unveiled at Auto Expo 2023, represents Hyundai’s commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle sector. Sharing the E-GMP platform with the Kia EV6, it boasts a robust 72.6 kWh battery pack, providing an ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge. The car’s rear-mounted electric motor delivers a powerful performance of 216 BHP and 350 Nm, complemented by the convenience of 800V fast charging, capable of rejuvenating the battery from 10-80% in just 18 minutes.
Expressing his gratitude, Shah Rukh Khan, upon receiving the keys to the Ioniq 5, stated, “I am honored to receive the all-electric SUV Hyundai IONIQ 5. This is my first-ever EV, and I am glad it is a Hyundai.” Khan acknowledged the remarkable journey shared with Hyundai throughout the year 2023 and emphasized the profound impact of the people’s love on their success in the industry.
