Clean Earth Inks Landmark Deal with Veolia for New High-Tech Waste Facility in Arkansas

Arkansas plant powered by renewable energy to address industry needs

Clean Earth, a subsidiary of Enviri Corporation, and Veolia North America have announced a groundbreaking five-year agreement for significant incineration capacity at a new state-of-the-art thermal facility in Southwest Arkansas. This first-of-its-kind partnership marks a major step forward for the waste management industry, addressing critical capacity needs and setting a new standard for sustainable waste disposal.

“This unique agreement solves some of the industry’s longstanding constraints,” said Jeff Beswick, President of Clean Earth. “We’re thrilled to partner with Veolia on this initiative, which will benefit both our customers and the nation as a whole.”

The new facility, slated to open in 2025, will boast several innovative features, including:

  • Guaranteed access for Clean Earth: Veolia has committed to providing Clean Earth with secure and reliable waste treatment capacity, a significant advantage in a tightening market.
  • Cutting-edge technology: The facility will utilize advanced incineration technology to safely and efficiently manage complex waste streams, including those generated by the resurgent manufacturing and research sectors in North America.
  • Sustainable operations: Veolia’s groundbreaking decarbonizing energy solution, powered by captured waste heat and on-site solar power, will set a new precedent for environmentally responsible waste treatment.
  • Environmental stewardship: A commitment to reforesting nearly 1,500 acres surrounding the facility will sequester carbon emissions, protect local habitat, and prevent erosion.

“Demand for safe and sustainable waste management solutions is skyrocketing across the U.S.,” said Fred Van Heems, President and CEO of Veolia North America. “This agreement with Clean Earth fills a critical gap in the industry and strengthens our ability to tackle the country’s most pressing environmental challenges.”

Veolia will begin ramping up waste treatment access for Clean Earth throughout 2024, ensuring a smooth transition to the new facility in 2025. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the waste management industry, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient future.
