Blue Planet Acquires Mahindra Waste to Energy, Boosting Circular Economy Push

Deal unites leaders in bio-methanation and carbon capture, boosting circular economy solutions

In a move hailed as a significant step towards a more sustainable future, global waste management firm Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pte. Ltd. (Blue Planet®) announced today the acquisition of Mahindra Waste to Energy Solutions Limited (MWTESL), a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group. This strategic collaboration strengthens both companies’ positions as pioneers in the waste-to-energy sector and bolsters their commitment to promoting circular economy initiatives.

MWTESL boasts expertise in converting municipal wet waste into bio-CNG (compressed natural gas) through bio-methanation, a technology that complements Blue Planet’s focus on carbon capture and utilization (CCU). By integrating these capabilities, the combined entity envisions developing comprehensive waste-to-energy solutions that are not only environmentally friendly but also economically viable.

“This collaboration creates a powerhouse for innovation in the waste-to-energy sector,” said Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO of Blue Planet. “Through the fusion of unique technologies, research capabilities, and intellectual property from both companies, we aim to drive breakthroughs in sustainable energy production and waste management, propelling the transition towards a circular economy.”

This acquisition will allow Blue Planet to:

  • Expand its market reach: Gain access to new markets and opportunities, particularly in India and across the broader Asian region.
  • Deliver integrated solutions: Offer clients comprehensive waste management and renewable energy packages, streamlining processes and maximizing value.
  • Enhance technological capabilities: Leverage combined expertise and resources to drive further innovation in bio-methanation, CCU, and other sustainable technologies.
  • Augment regional impact: Strengthen Blue Planet’s position as a leading force for positive environmental change in Asia.

This acquisition comes at a critical juncture, as global waste generation continues to rise and the need for sustainable solutions becomes ever more pressing. Blue Planet and Mahindra Waste to Energy Solutions are confident that their collaboration will play a significant role in addressing this challenge, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.
